Going Dutch is an interesting concept known in most english speaking countries, but unfamiliar to Dutch people. The actual meaning is to split the costs of going out, saving the guy a little money, but costing the girl an excrutiating amount of money compared to what she spend on her last date (nothing).
The origin of this concept is unknown. It certainly isn't a common concept in Holland. Go fig.
