I wonder today if people are forgetting about
charisma. The
act of being
charismatic is neither good nor bad, its how the
specific person uses their
charisma. Charisma in people seems to be waning while
something very similar,
marketing, has taken over in influencing our lives and
marketing is almost always
manipulative and therefore
bad. Maybe hearing about
new ideas or
different ideas from a
real person is better from the stand point of understanding and
assimilating those ideas than having new
products and
fashions inserted into the
social conciousness by
slick television ads. Atleast if you're sold
snake oil by a
salesman, you can blame the
salesman. If you're sold
snake oil by a
television set you have no one to blame but
your own dumb self.
