More, food is impure and refusing it is a sign of purity. Food is not seen as simply a necessity or, if it is, needs are another weakness. Therefore, to maintain her strength and purity, the anoretic refuses food. In remorse over her 'weakness' and 'impurity', the bulimic purges the food she has just eaten. |
