Most of what he did was perform surgery on lepers in India. The Presbyterian Church paid him a lot of money to cut parts off of people who were rotting alive.
He said he could never have any respect for anyone who used any sort of drug to escape pain.
He said he'd spent his life working with people who would've sold their souls to be able to feel pain.
