People sometimes
assume
that
girls
want
people
to comment on their looks, as long as those comments are
positive
. Can I be the only one who doesn't? And am I
incorrect
in
thinking
that until pretty
recently
,
girls weren't supposed to
do the same to
boys
? If I'm not, there's a
damned good reason
for that. It's
rude
to
assess someone else's appearance
. To
compliment
someone's
clothing
is fine, maybe even certain
physical features
, if it's done in the
context
of a
subculture
where certain kinds of
modifications
are
the norm

ears). But to
act
as though you have the
right
to
judge
the
aesthetic value
of
traits someone can't change
is just
dumb
