An exclamation of surprise or wonder, made by Alice as she began to grow after polishing off the 'EAT ME' cake.

'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English); 'now I'm opening out like the largest telescope that ever was! Good-bye, feet!'

This phrase has leaked its way into common usage -- for example, the Hindustan Times¹ used it to refer to the George W. Bush vs. Al Gore presidental election and the Irish Examiner² used it when discussing the deal allowing BMW to use the trademark Rolls-Royce grille and hood ornament even though Volkswagen won the takeover battle for the Rolls-Royce Corporation.
