It's easy - even preferable - to shrug off. You contribute to the trashing of the ozone layer. You buy stuff made in the "acceptable" slavery of sweatshops, stuff of little value that ultimately ends up in some environmentally-dubious scrap heap. You give tacit approval to the deterioration of values, and its attendant societal decline. You allow murderers to buy handguns...

Wouldn't you really rather just forget it and watch some TV? Anything to drown out the noise of conscience.
