While this is often a
description
attributed to
mediocre
work as
justification
for its existence, artistic effect literally refers to the way a particular piece of art will
alter the state of mind
of an observer.
Some art is created exclusively for artistic effect.
Blue Panel
is a painting that fits into this category. Some "art" is so
straightforward
and logical that it achieves negligible effect. Still other art strikes a
balance
between
content
and artistic effect.
Art defies
categorization
, however; good art may be found in any of these three categories, or some unmentioned (
outside
or
in-between
) category.
