The line is thought-provoking. It's currently untrue by the first amendment and libel laws in the USA, but some people feel that their free speech rights are being stripped. That was what the author meant, and got flamed for it.
I dunno, I guess the libertarian party would probably say this is the future unless they do something, etc.
