| A teen melodrama, heir to Dawson's Creek, Young Americans is a TV program debuting on The WB in July 2000.
Just as the movie Career Opportunities was a commercial for Target stores, so Young Americans is an advertisement for Friendly's restaurants. As the Friendly Ice Cream Corporation's press release proudly announces, "Two lead characters, Will and Scout, work as waiters at Friendly's, serving the trademark Fribbles, indulgent ice cream creations and tasty Big Beef™ hamburgers."
They hope that Friendly's will become as famous as Central Perk from Friends. Time will tell. I suppose it depends on whether anyone will be singing songs like "Smelly Cat". Frankly, I smell a rat already.
