Writing to Capture a Moment

created by shrimpo

(idea) by shrimpo (1.1 y) (print)   ?   (I like it!) Sat Oct 21 2000 at 21:50:59

I used to think that I could preserve the past by writing it down. I thought that by capturing every detail on paper I could relive the moment whenever I wanted to.

Now I realize I was wrong.

Writing as a medium of memory is futile because we do not have the vocabulary to re-create moments. It is of no concern the level of detail - words alone are not enough to encapsulate the dimensions of memory, of moments, or of life.

So live for the moment, not for the memory - you might be disappointed.
