Finland, the nation which hosts the World Wife Carrying Championships also hosts the World Air Guitar Championships, held each year as part of the Oulu Music Video Festival, in the city of Oulu. While there are national competitions in several countries including Britain and Australia, international players travel from all over for the Finnish event.
The competition takes the form of two 1-minute slots. The first is a compulsory piece chosen by the panel of judges; the second being the performer's own choice - indeed the choice may be to play with no background music at all. The only rule of the second part is that they must not have a guitar to play.
