| The only full-blown university on Prince Edward Island, located in the capital city, Charlottetown. Actually, UPEI is a far better school than many of its students give it credit for, but maybe not as good as their marketing people say ("The best-kept secret on the East Coast!")
UPEI offers Bachelor's degrees in Arts or Sciences, with majors being offered in most programs and Honours being offered for the most important ones. It also offers Bachelor's of Business Administration, and a two-year Bachelor of Education degree (which is too much time, if you ask me, but I digress). UPEI also offers registration in Nursing, doctorate in Veterinary Science, and a Masters degree in Education.
UPEI is small as far as schools go. Physically, the campus is 130 acres, and consists of nine main buildings. In terms of faculty, the first-year courses rarely have much more than 50 to 70 people in them, and as one advances, the classes get smaller and smaller. I'm a philosophy student, and some of those higher-level courses have only a handful of people in them. I took one course with only three students, including myself. It's rare to find that level of professor-student interaction. |
