University of Cambridge

Cambridge is considered to be one of the premier universities in the UK. It is located in East Anglia on the M11. The town of Cambridge itself has a student population of over 17,000.
Originally founded around 1226-1231 the university has been at the fore front of world education for many years.
Traditionally Cambridge has always offered humanist subjects and traditional degrees. However recently they have expanded their repertoire. The courses currently offered are:

Cambridge Colleges

There are 31 colleges at Cambridge. Colleges offer accommodation to their students and a community but teaching is primarily done within the faculties themselves, rather than the colleges, although not exclusively. Most colleges take undergraduate and graduate students. All population figures are for the academic year 2000/2001.

• Christ's College (christs) - Founded 1448. Current student population of 395 undergraduate and 95 graduate students.
• Churchill College (chu) - Founded 1960. Current student population of 430 undergraduate and 220 graduate students.
• Clare College (clare) - Founded 1326. Current student population of 400 undergraduate and 180 graduate students.
• Clare Hall (clarehall) - Founded 1966. Takes only graduate students. Current student population of around 300.
• Corpus Christi College (corpus) - Founded 1352. Current student population of 260 undergraduate and 144 graduate students, normal intake of 75 undergraduate a year.
• Darwin College (dar) - Founded 1964. Takes only graduate students. Specialises in philosophy and in taking foreign students. Current student population of around 400
• Downing College (dow) - Founded 1800. Current student population of 387 undergraduate and 193 graduate students.
• Emmanuel College (emma) - Founded 1854. Current student population of 420 undergraduate and 150 graduate students.
• Fitzwilliam College (fitz) - Founded 1966. Current student population of 438 undergraduate and 185 graduate students.
• Girton College (girton) - Founded 1869. Current student population of 479 undergraduate and 196 graduate students.
• Gonville and Caius College (cai) - Founded 1348. Current student population of 759 undergraduate and 291 graduate students.
• Homerton College (homerton) - Founded 1976. Specialises in education studies and PGCE qualifications. Current student population of 650 undergraduate and 425 graduate students.
• Hughes Hall (Hughes) - Founded 1885. Takes only mature students (over 21). Current student population of 280.
• Jesus College (jesus) - Founded 1496. Current student population of 462 undergraduate and 208 graduate students.
• King's College (kings) - Founded 1441. Current student population of 393 undergraduate and 237 graduate students.
• Lucy Cavendish (lucy-cav) - Founded 1965. Takes only female mature (over 21) students. Current student population of 92 undergraduate and 132 graduate students.
• Magdalene College (magd) - Founded 1428. Current student population of 320 undergraduate and 125 graduate students.
• New Hall (newhall) - Founded 1954. Takes only female students. Current student population of 341 undergraduate and 54 graduate students.
• Newnham College (newn) - Founded 1871. Takes only female students. Current student population of 405 undergraduate and 44 graduate students.
• Pembroke College (pem) - Founded 1347. Current student population of 382 undergraduate and 194 graduate students.
• Peterhouse (pet) - Founded 1284. Current student population of 241 undergraduate and 86 graduate students.
• Queens' College (quns) - Founded 1448. Current student population of 490 undergraduate and 270 graduate students.
• Robinson College (robinson) - Founded 1979. Current student population of 391 undergraduate and 120 graduate students.
• St Catharine's College (caths) - Founded 1473. Current student population of 437 undergraduate and 106 graduate students.
• St Edmund's College (st-edmunds) - Founded 1896. Admits only mature students (over 21). Current student population of 60 undergraduate and 170 graduate students.
• St. John's College (joh) - Founded 1511. Current student population of 536 undergraduate and 314 graduate students.
• Selwyn College (sel) - Founded 1882. Current student population of 360 undergraduate and 140 graduate students.
• Sidney Sussex College (sid) - Founded 1596. Current student population of 328 undergraduate and 131 graduate students.
• Trinity College (trin) - Founded 1546. Current student population of 679 undergraduate and 357 graduate students.
• Trinity Hall (trinhall) - Founded 1350. Current student population of 344 undergraduate and 120 graduate students.
• Wolfson College (wolfson) - Founded 1965. Admits only mature students (over 21). Current student population of 90 undergraduate and 410 graduate students.
