Area in the
central United States and
Canada stretching from
Texas to
Manitoba through the
Great Plains. Tornado Alley has the
highest rate of
tornados in the
world because of
ideal conditions for tornados to
occur.
Moist and warm
tropical air that comes from the
Gulf of Mexico meets the cool and
dry polar air that comes from Canada over the
flat land of the central U.S. When the
two air masses meet they
create violent
thunderstorms which can
spawn many tornados. Most of the tornado
footage you see on
TV comes from Tornado Alley which is taken by
storm chasers.
