Tom T. Hall. Tom Hall is the "forgotten"
id Software founder, the one people forget when they mention the other founders,
John Carmack and
John Romero. (They also usually forget artist
Adrian Carmack, no relation to John.) Tom's tastes were more into whimsical humor than shoot-em-up violence, so the
Commander Keen series was up his alley, while later id productions such as
Wolfenstein 3D and
Doom were not; this led to his quitting the company. Like the other id founders, he was working for
Softdisk in
Shreveport, Louisiana when they all developed the Keen games on their own and ultimately quit as a group to start id.
