Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier III (1975)
A confident Muhammad Ali met Joe Frazier III in the ring on the evening of October 1, 1975, only to discover that his adversary was far more canny than he had imagined. The world held its breath as the two boxers dueled through 14 grueling rounds to a spectacular finish.
Ali won the bout and retained his title when Frazier retired on his stool prior to the fifteenth and final round. Ali collapsed from exhaustion after the fight. Ali later told a journalist that it was "as close to death as I could imagine".
