In Heinlein's Stranger In A Strange Land, the Martian-raised Michael Valentine Smith says this to everyone after meditating on divinity for a really long time. He gets other people to understand what he means by that in native Martian terms, and they all have sex.

This phrase implies that God is the sum of all minds, since it is, indeed, said to everyone in Stranger in A Strange Land. This is not unlike the revelation some LSD users have, oddly.

"Thou Art God" in Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land refers to being in control of your own destiny, being responsible for yourself, and making your own happiness. It's a catch phrase for existentalism.

The characters in the book, after realizing they have power over themselves, do the only realistic thing they could do. . .lead lives full of indulgent physical pleasures.
