My English Teacher, Mr. Charles Ferguson..once said something that will stick with me all my life.
We were learning about "
Civil Disobedience
"...and
Henry David Thoreau
...and he said,
"One day, you guys are gonna come up against something. You are going to stand up for something you believe in. And it will not be easy. you will come up against many people, many attacks, many criticisms, many sacrifices. But you must stand up for what you believe.
But when I'm talking about standing up ....I'm not talking about those idiots down the hall with pink hair and ten thousand
piercings
on their bodies. Those people aren't rebelling...they're just trying to be different because they fear being ordinary. What I'm talking about is truly standing against something that you are afraid of fighting against. And don't doubt...that day will come. Just remember to stand strong.....as strong as your beliefs."
I'll never forget what he said. And i'm still standing today. (minus the pink hair and piercings)
