The Hall of Tortured Souls is an
easter egg
in
Microsoft
Excel 95
. To gain access to The Hall of Tortured Souls, you must:
Open Excel 95 with a blank work sheet.
Scroll down to the 95
th
row, select the whole row, and
tab
over to column B.
Go to Help/About, hold ctrl-alt-shift, and click on the
tech support
button.
This process
spawns
a window with a
graphical interface
quite similar to that of
Doom
and
Doom II
. You can walk around using the
arrow keys
and look up and down using C and D. At the end of the corridor there is a list of the
tortured souls
, who are in fact the
programmers
who worked on Microsoft Excel. Turn around
180 degrees
at this point and type in EXCELKFA (a parody of IDKFA, the
cheat code
in Doom for all keys, weapons, and full
ammo
). You can now walk through the wall, where you will be confronted with a
zig-zag
bridge. If you manage to
traverse
this bridge, you will be rewarded with a room containing pictures of the
development team
for Excel.
