The Church of Mez

The Church of Mez is:

• The answer to the question, "what do you get for the guy who's got everything?"
• The largest transhumanist cult in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA
• A performance art group
• A birthday joke that got a little (or a lot) out of hand
• A bunch of geeks with nothing better to do
• An internet sex cult
• An adhocracy masquerading as a religious bureaucracy
• A conspiracy to spread the dangerous idea that frivolity is not incompatible with progress
• A completely unnecessary boost to Mez's ego
• An excuse to "baptize" nude adults in a hot tub
• Completely serious
• Completely in jest

The Church's mission is to bring fringe philosophy, deviant sex, and big hair to scientists, artists, knowledge workers, and other evolved beings throughout the universe.

(We have some ancillary goals involving self-deification and eternal life.)

Occasionally, groups of more serious-minded transhumanists argue about whether the Church of Mez is for real or just a frivolous bunch of party animals who use intentional living as an excuse to host raves, have orgies, and/or set things on fire. (Core members of the church would be willing to categorically deny hosting raves, if anybody would bother to ask them.)
