Stephen Dorff
American actor
Born: 29 July 1973; Atlanta, Georgia.
Stephen Dorff, not to be confused with his father Steven Dorff (a composer
responsible for several movie scores), is an actor probably best known for two
off-the wall roles: as the (in)famous transvestite Candy Darling in I
Shot Andy Warhol and the lunatic film-making title character mocking John
Waters in Cecil B. Demented. Other notable roles include one of the
main vampires in Blade and the lead investigator in the 2002
techno-thriller FearDotCom.
Growing up with his father in Atlanta and later LA, Stephen's early acting
career included commercials and appearances on several sitcoms (including hit
shows "Diff'rent Strokes," "Roseanne" and "Family Ties"). He made the
successful transition to major films with 1992's The Power of One,
along side Morgan Freeman.
Stephen has lived an active public life since achieving critical fame. He
has helped with several experimental works including Quantum Project,
the first major film released over the Internet, several music videos and a
video sequence shown at some of U2's Popmart concerts (Dorff and lead singer
Bono are apparently close friends). In his free time, he collects vintage
cameras and guitars. He also writes music occasionally, some of which he
hopes to integrate into a film in the future.
