Statement commonly seen on
packaging for
heterogeneous substances that may separate over time. Things that should be shaken before using include
buttermilk,
italian dressing,
chocolate milk, and
juice containing
pulp. Generally, you may be instructed to shake any liquid containing solid bits, or which mixes
lipid-,
water,
and/or alcohol-based substances. There is always some
wag who interprets this by
trembling, then picking up the product and pouring.
