This is true, though strange and a bit unbelievable.
An acquiantence of mine works for the
CIA in another country and has done so for going on 10 years. Up until recently, whenever anyone asked about what this person does, they would reply "I work with computers." Technically this is true, though what they do with computers for the CIA I don't know.
On a recent trip back
Stateside, this person began asking me questions about my
job, what
programming languages I work with, how I worked with access to outside systems and what I knew about
systems security.
I answered best I could and this went on for about half an hour. I finally got curious and asked what was with all the questions. My acquiantince replied that they were planning on returning to the
States permanently, and the "office" was looking for a replacement and they had said they would look into me.
As for as
job interviews go, it was one of the most interesting I've ever had, even if I didn't know what it was during it.
