The novel exploits the depredations of the
most extreme elements
of the
feminist
,
environmentalist
, and
animal rights
movements. I was too disturbed by the end of the book to decide whether or not Ballard is making a judgement on those movements as a whole.
Not for the faint of heart. You may regret starting the book by the time you finish it.
