A band (named after a great
Rahsaan Roland Kirk LP) formed by Gareth Sager and Bruce Smith, the
jazz/
bohemian axis of
The Pop Group. On paper, it was meant to be
free jazz with a
funky base, but only pianist Mark Springer had the
chops to pull it off; you were often left with both lame jazz and lame funk. Occasionally
Neneh Cherry would do vocals, like on "You're My Kind of Climate". The band was often cooler than the actual music.
