Refrigerator bitch list

It is quite unfortunate that smoking is no longer encouraged in the workplace. Aside from the alleged benefit of not smoking, smoking breaks provided the opportunity for theraputic kvetching.

I have recently instituted a weekly event among my co-workers, the refrigerator bitch list. On the company refrigerator, stuck there with a cute magnet is a list on which anyone can post their personal kvetches. Every two week period, everyone who uses the office kitchen votes on whose bitchings were the worst. That winning person then receives the dubious honor of throwing everything in the refrigerator away.

As I see it, the benefits of this informal competition are many:

• public airing of grievances, concerns;
• the nipping of any refrigerator surprise salad in the bud; and, perhaps most beneficial,
• the identification of unsavory and disaffected elements, preparatory to their liquification (by salad shooter or disposal for most fun).
