R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachussets in 1959. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Fitchburg State College and a Bachelor of Arts in English. His first published novel was The Crystal Shard from TSR, Inc., in 1988.
He has since published more than a dozen novels including the New York Times best-selling The Halfling's Gem and Sojourn, and three hardcover novels, The Legacy, Starless Night, and Siege of Darkness. He wrote the Icewind Dale Trilogy, the Dark Elf Trilogy, and the Cleric Quintet for TSR, Inc.
He makes his home in Masschussetts with his wife, Diane, and their three children.
