Pull Buoy

created by Bagpuss

(thing) by Bagpuss (2 y) (print)   ?   (I like it!) Thu Feb 15 2001 at 13:55:06

A training device used by swimmers to allow them to concentrate on developing the pull part of their stroke without involving the leg kick.

It is basically a float which is gripped between the thighs providing bouyancy for the lower body, while preventing the user from kicking with their legs. The swimmer can then swim using only the arms for propulsion..

The floats are normally made from polystyrene, foam rubber or similar plastics. Models which are hollow and can be filled with water to adjust their bouyancy are also available.
