Oxybeles

The Oxybeles was designed in 375 b.C., because the composite bow developed so fast that it grew too large and too powerful to be operated by a single human archer, so they suck two on it. The bow was placed on a tripod and a winch was fitted to draw it back. It fired 2 foot bolts at you very fast, and if it didn't kill you, the funny skirt wearing Roman Soldiers would beat the life out of you. Or sell you into slavery. The weren't fussy. It was on a tripod and had a range of, hmmm, 100 yards. that is pretty good. and it was very accurate. Getting hit by it would be very sore. and you'd probably die. But again with the soldier thing.
