What breeze moves us away from fall-
away from warm days & cool evenings
Leaves that swirl across suburban streets
one day go from flying orange and yellow to
brown and black, piled into gutters without energy
skies, once patchy blue
fade to dark mornings and premature sunsets
The morning chill hangs in the air without warm afternoons
and the rain now comes with icicles and frozen windshields
reflecting long lines of red lights
trying to get home
