Stands for "Notice to Airmen". NOTAMs provide pilots with a wide range of information which is important for a safe flight. Common subjects of NOTAMs are:

• Obstructions (new construction crane, radio tower)
• Aerobatics competitions or Air shows
• Active parachute zones

NOTAMs can usually be obtained from an FSS, or Flight Service Station.
