Mormon Assault Vehicle

Utahn slang for a vehicle designed to transport massive LDS families, usually used by people who aren't members of The Church^TM. MAVs have changed over the years. The original was the handcart, followed, in order by:

• Various types of horse-drawn wagon
• Station Wagons
• Suburbans
• Minivans (in particular, the Dodge Caravan)
• And most recently, a shift back to Suburbans and other ginormous SUVs.

Of course, the most common MAV outside of Utah would be the bicycle.

Note that this is all said in good fun, as I've spent my fair share of time in various MAVs.
