Lea Salonga was the unlikely star that came out of Phillipines. In her homeland when she tried out for musical parts or record deals they rejected her saying that she wasn't good enough. That's when she moved to America and landed the leading role of Kim in Miss Saigon, she would originate this role and be remembered for it, playing it in the London Theater and Broadway Theater. She was also Eponine in the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables.

Her later projects included being the singing voice of Jasmine in Aladdin, and Mulan in Mulan, both are cartoons done by Disney. In the present day she has had record deals and cds out in the market. Lea Salonga is also known as one of Phillipines greatest stars and has done some tv shows there too.
