A
Canadian beer first brewed in 1950, as a celebration of a half century of business operations under John S. and Hugh Labatt. It was at one point the most popular beer in
Canada. It is still popular in
Quebec. It is marketed in the
United States as
Labatt's Canadian Ale, and comes in a green case. Sometime after 1988, the apostrophe was dropped, and the product is now marketed as Labatt 50.
