1938-1995. A saxophonist, writer, and composer. An alumnus of St. Louis' Black Artists Group, he found his way into the 70s "loft jazz" scene in Manhattan. Works like Blue Boye, Coon Bid'ness, and Dogon A.D. have made their way into the invisible canon of jazz avant-garde classix. His World Saxophone Quartet activity was cut short by illness and amputation, but he kept working - e.g. ballet scores for Bill T. Jones, recordings - to the end.
