(1872-1957) California architect most famous for designing the Hearst Castle at San Simeon. She was one of the first female graduates of the University of California, Berkeley civil engineering program and started her career working for John Galen Howard, the University's supervising architect. Other notable works include the Mills College bell tower and Berkeley YWCA.
