A completely arbitrary status symbol of female high-school students in the mid to late 80's. The jeans were expensive and unattractive. Sort of like bell-bottoms and those annoying knicker-looking-doo-dads are now; except the need for these jeans by adolecent women could be classified as obsessive. According to Jordache's web site, the only place you can buy the fabled jeans now-a-days is at Wallmart... Ahh, how the mighty have fallen.
