Fabulous Brazilian guitar player, creator of the famous 'batida' and deepest interpreter of the Samba and Bossa Nova composers, such as Jobim, Ary Barroso and Dorival Caymmi, and other such diverse composers as Caetano Veloso and Cole Porter. His calm, delicate playing and his sweet deep voice made him very famous worldwide when the bossa sound hit the U.S. in the mid 60's. Miles Davis said of him that "he could read a newspaper and sound great."
