A mystery-themed japanese console/computer game from the 80's, and a true
underdog
to boot. It was originally developed by Kyodai for the
TurboGrafx
/
PC Engine
and then ported to
PC
. The PC conversion had
EGA
graphics that weren't match for the digitized video of the console
CD-ROM
version, but both versions excel in plot and gameplay quality.
The player has to investigate the murder of a successful businessman through an entirely menu-driven user interface. Suspects can be asked questions, arrested and interrogated, and evidence has to be collected while the case gradually progresses towards a climactic (not to mention surprising) end.
The sheer number of different characters, most having something to hide, and the complex storyline ensure many hours of engrossing gameplay.
One of my all-time favorite games.
