| Nice parody of my node. I appreciate it.
Of course, when the Southern states all rose up and formed their own Confederate States, the Union promptly waged war until the rebels until they were taken back into the Union. But I guess China doesn't have the right to do the equivalent of that because America has to protect its own interests there, and of course, follow their doctrine of containment.
Oh thats right we must not forget that the entire Southern collection of cotton plantation owners wanted to secede, but probably not the poor sharecroppers. I'm sure the South Carolina legislature had its share of delegates representing the poor people. I am sure they resented the war, because it devastated them more than the wealthy plantation owners. I'm pretty certain they would rather have stayed with the Union.
I'm sorry but the way I see it, the war between the communists and nationalists in China was unfinished. The USA came in and messed up the whole thing. Great. It would have been all fine and dandy if they just kept out of it. If they wanted a base of operations in Asia, they already have Japan and the Phillipines. But no, they must have one more island. Is it really neccessary to provoke 50 years of bickering because of the Truman Doctrine? |
