The Institute of Technology Sligo is a technical institute for education. What would previously have been called a Regional Technical College here in Ireland.
It is located in the beautiful town of Sligo, in the North West of Ireland where its population of over 3000 students bring in approximately half a million (Irish) pounds a month to the city which as you will learn in the Sligo writeup has a population of only around 30,000 people.
Originally all Institutes of this kind in Ireland were designated (placename) Higher Institute of Technology, with the increase in numbers of colleges around the country however this produced some unfortunate acronyms and the Sligo Higher Institute of Technology became the I.T.S.
