They're only blue when I'm with you.
They're grey around everyone else. You see, they are afraid that someone else will fall in love with them. They are afraid that I will love them more than I love you, when my eyes are happy just looking at you for the rest of my life.
My eyes have nothing to worry about. I see what they only think they see, I see to your heart. I see that part of you that my eyes can't even imagine. I see the way you pick a child off the concrete and stick a Winnie the Pooh band-aid on her knee. I see the way you listen when someone really needs to talk to you. I see the way you check on me when we're on different sides of a crowded room, just to make sure I'm ok. I see the way you look at me and it makes my heart beat a little faster, and maybe my eyes become a little bluer.
But love, my eyes will only be blue as long as you want them to be that color. If you were to ask them to be green, they would try their hardest to become that. Just remember that as much as I hold your heart in my hands, you hold mine in yours. |
