The Hollywood Bowl is the outdoor theater in Los Angeles and is located in the Cahuenga Pass. The spot it is located was chosen by H. E. Reed when he went hiking with his father because when they yelled at each other from the bottom of the pass and at the top they were surprised by the clarity of the sound.
The Hollywood Bowl was completed in 1916 mostly with funds by Artie Carter, and Charles Toberman, to name a few. Its first play was a rendition of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. The shell that a patron would see was built in 1924 and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright's son, Lloyd Wright. Currently, the Hollywood Bowl is owned by Los Angeles County.
