A
character in
Eugene O'Neill's
The Iceman Cometh. The
proprietor of a
New York boarding house,
Harry is sixty years old, a
widower of twenty years. He acts
aggressive in an effort to hide his essentially
passive nature. He hasn't taken a step
outside the
place since his wife died.
Occasionally he thinks of going around the
neighborhood and visiting his old
friends, but, like every other
ambition in
the play, this idea is a
pipe dream. His
enduring fear of the
world keeps him
inside.
