Hailstorm

Hailstorms are dreaded by farmers everywhere. A particularly bad one can destroy a fruit crop, flatten fields of grain, or damage equipment or buildings.

In the fields outside of Winnipeg, I saw a field of flax where half of the stalks were lying flat on the ground, and half were still standing upright. It was a strange thing to look at, as the flat patches seemed to be arranged at random.
