Franz Ehrle

German jesuit and church historian; cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church (from 1922). Born 1845, died 1934.

From 1895 to 1914, Franz Ehrle was prefect (director) of the Vatican Library. During his tenure, he oversaw considerable restructuring of the library.
