When a Troll or a Flamer posts a flame to slashdot or to everything, if the post is gramatically correct, or reasonably so, and if the post is excessively long, it is usually not voted/moderated down. This is because the moderators who would vote it down are too lazy to read the entire thing. In fact, many moderators end up looking at the length of the flame and determining that based on grammar and spelling, the flame has a high signal ratio, and that the flamer is actually making a substantive comment. Sometimes on slashdot metamod.pl catches this, often it does not.
Thus, this is why pages and pages of rhetoric about serious issues like Gun Control, Abortion, and Violence in Video Games are moderated to the Front Page by the Media at large. |
