Irish composer famed for her soft, New Age-techno style of music. Her compositions are rather pleasant listening music, though I have met several people who complain that Enya music puts them to sleep. Though she herself does the vocals on any of her songs, several songs in her repetoire are instrumental only. Of the songs with lyrics the majority are in English, with the rest being split between Irish and Latin.
Her record label is Reprise Records, owned by the media behemoth AOL-Time Warner. Having been in business around a decade, her albums include: The Celts, Watermark, Sheperd Moons, The Memory of Trees, and the most recent, A Day Without Rain. In the mid-90s, she released an album of popular songs culled from her other albums entitled Paint the Sky with Stars.
All in all, Enya is nice to listen to while nodding off to sleep, or drinking hot cocoa in front of a warm fire while petting your cat. Though she does use a lot of synthesized music this is not quite the stuff you will hear at a rave. If you like Enya's style, you may also enjoy Loreena McKennitt. If you listen to an Enya song and find you don't like it, (or discover you don't like it after you wake up) content yourself with the fact that most Enya songs sound pretty much the same.
