I'm tired. I'm exhausted. I feel sick to my stomach and I've got an ache in my head. My hair is a mess, my clothes are all wrinkled, and I left half my paperwork under my bed back home. My computer has crashed twice, the printer is smearing black, the network is down, and it's not even nine in the morning yet.
Today, I've got three projects to work on simultaneously and they're all marked "URGENT". My manager is out today, and with him the phone numbers of all my client contacts. I've got a team meeting at ten, an office meeting at twelve, and a client meeting halfway across town at three. I don't need to give or get any information from them, though. I just need to "be there, just in case".
So drug me, please. Caffeine, sucrose, and dextrose. All my old vending machine favorites. In obscenely large quantities. On an hourly basis. Make that half-hourly. Buzz buzz buzz. Pump me up, keep me up, keep me going. It's the only way I'm going to make it through.
And it's still not nine in the morning yet.
